What Does Montessori Mean For Us?
Montessori is an educational approach developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori. Montessori emphasized independent learning, self-motivation, and hands-on experience.
At Lakewood Montessori, we adapt Maria Montessori's educational philosophy to meet the needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment that meets the developmental needs of each child.
This is the main difference between us and an ordinary daycare! We are here to advance your child's learning and take them to newer heights. Look at our testimonials and see what we have achieved in other children's learning skills for their brighter futures.

Ted CoonsOctober 28, 2022I wanted to take a moment to discuss the experience we had at LMS. Our first two kids went to different montessori schools, and it was a pleasant experience. When we toured LMS we were extremely impressed and thought it might be a wonderful place for our youngest daughter. It was a tad more expensive than some of the other options, but we felt it might be worth it. We decided to send our daughter to school there as a 2yr old. It was the BEST decision we made in her young life. Our daughter attended LMS from 2yrs to 5yrs old. She attended right up until her public-school kindergarten class started. From the moment she arrived she felt LOVED. The environment caters for control, respect, and discipline but in a very loving way. It was evident early on that she was involved in a phenomenal learning experience. The administration is very "hands-on" from the moment you drop your child to the very minute you pick them up. Always accommodating, never dismissive. The teachers are fantastic. Our daughter developed a special relationship with every educator she encountered. They were able to show their own personalities, while maintaining the important montessori curriculum. She learned so much in her time there. Academics such as math, writing, spelling and most importantly, reading. She was reading by age 4. They also inspired the creative side in her. Their numerous programs (music, art etc) enabled her to become very well rounded. We are seeing the results currently in her kindergarten class. She already knows how to think and how to learn so her opportunity to excel is limitless. Last, the item that never seems to be addressed, but we feel is most important, is confidence. We had no idea the impact confidence can play in a young child's life. Our daughter is educated, has a terrific sense of love and respect and is overflowing with confidence. She is absolutely thriving in her new school. We attribute it to our second family, Lakewood Montessori. It truly is an amazing place. So, from one parent to another, I highly recommend you send your children to LMS.....it will be the best decision of your life.Lindsay BechtelMay 26, 2022The most incredible daycare! Teachers have been there for years and run their classrooms with a structure that the children thrive in. I’ve referred all my friends here! Demand is high, so get on the waitlist as fast as you can.K BJune 7, 2018Anyone who’s spent more than five minutes at LMS would know that it is one the best schools in the Northwest Houston area. I have a seventh grader who attended this school and now a two year old who is currently attending and my children have excelled both academically and socially. My eldest has completed her first year of middle school in all advanced placement classes on the honor roll and I know it has everything to do with the foundation that was given at LMS. My youngest has a huge vocabulary and excellent word recognition. My children are happy coming to LMS and sad leaving, because they truly enjoy being there, as I’ve heard this being the case with other families. My children have never come home dirty and I’ve never had to worry about a thing, when it came to the well-being of them in Lakewood’s care. It’s more than a place to drop my children off, but a second home to them. My oldest still asks if she can go and visit LMS. The staff and administrators are so passionate when it comes to the education, safety and whole-being of a child, I’ve experienced it many times. LMS has been around for 22 years, that speaks volumes for daycares and schools. The professionalism from teachers and assistants are consistent and very appreciated. The owners Dave and Jeanine Wyatt are involved and visible to meet the needs of the children and parents. LMS is a well-diverse community, a big melting pot of many cultures and backgrounds which allows the children to be exposed to differences. I pray Lakewood will be around long enough for my grandchildren to attend. Hands down...a wonderful place for a child to learn and grow.TX BraeswoodJune 7, 2018I would recommend this school for preschoolers and kindergarteners-great teachers, excellent curriculum. Had some issues with our son during transition period from toddler class to primary, but worked it out with the management.John OwenJune 1, 2018Great people. Excellent results. Conveniently located. They have been providing quality education and care for over 22 years. They are like family — most of the teachers and staff have been with them for many years, and that says a lot. Lakewood Montessori is a solid choice when it comes to your child’s early education.Li ZMay 30, 2018My two kids attended LMS from one and a half years through kinder garden. The school is amazing, not only the curriculum is rich (music, Spanish lesson, advanced Math and reading programs), but the staff is loving and caring. My older boy has earned straight A's while in the GT program in public school. My little one will have his kinder garden ceremony the middle of this month and he is already two grade levels ahead per IOWA testing. We are glad and grateful that we made a right decision to send kids to LMS although the place is not very close to where we live. I would highly recommend this preschool to parents, you won't regret it. Due to school's good reputation, they usually have waiting list, act quickly if you want to enroll your kids.Zachary GonzalesMay 15, 2018I believe I'm the first former student of Lakewood Montessori to have their child attend as well, and therefore I'm in a position to share a unique perspective. Some of my earliest memories are from LMS. Playing with some of my earliest friends on the playground (some of which I still keep in contact with), pouring milk for my class before lunch, and rolling my rug after finishing work are just a few examples. I believe the Montessori approach to childhood education equipped me with the independence, interpersonal skills, and knowledge to not only do well in school, but to strive for leadership positions throughout school, including college at Texas A&M University. Aside from the engaging and challenging activities in the classroom, the staff has always been a highlight of Lakewood. As a former student, and someone who's child has been attending for the past 4 years, I've gotten to know many of the teachers, assistants, and office staff who have been there since I attended 20 years ago. Dave and Jeanine Wyatt have always been the most welcoming and professional owners, and it's impressive that they've been able to hire and train some of the best early childhood educators and prepare our children for life at such a high level consistently. Naturally, I wouldn't want my son in any other school for all his years before first grade. He started in the infant room before he was even 1, and we've been able to watch him grow and learn so much, transitioning to older rooms as time went on. Building relationships and skills along the way that are easily forged in a Lakewood Montessori classroom. He's now 4, and is in a Primary classroom, completing counting to 100, and excited about learning to read. He's independent, curious, and excited about learning. He talks about missing his friends and teachers at school at the end of every weekend. For these reasons, I would advise you to take a tour of LMS and see for yourself. Walk by any classroom and you'll find engaged, curious, and happy children. The way they should be!Michelle and Chi SoMay 11, 2018Lakewood Montessori is an awesome school. I have two boys that attended LMS consecutively for a total of 7 years. The teachers and staff were knowledgeable and motivated. Their curriculum was rich and engaging that included music and Spanish. My kids enjoyed going there every day. Both of my sons got a great education. Their math, reading, and writing levels were well above their grade level. But more importantly they learned many life and leadership skills that are not taught in traditional schools. They learned to think critically and be independent. I highly recommend Lakewood Montessori.Load moreGoogle rating score: 4.4 of 5, based on 20 reviews
